Our British Sign Language (BSL) Plan explains the actions we're taking to:
- support BSL users in the council area
- ensure BSL users have equal access to our services
In our plan, 'BSL user' means anyone whose first or preferred language is BSL. This includes d/Deaf people and deafblind people who use a tactile form of the language.
How we developed our plan
We developed our plan in 2018 to support the delivery of the Scotland Government's national BSL plan. This is known as the British Sign Language (BSL): National Plan 2017 to 2023.
During our plan's development, we got input from:
- teams within the council
- partner organisations
- people who use BSL
- people and organisations that support BSL users
