Children and young people - child protection
We want our area to be a place where all children and young people are safe, enjoy good health, and have access to a wide range to positive experiences and opportunities to achieve their potential. The safety of our children is everyone's responsibility.
Social Care is committed to working in partnership with parents and families in offering child protection and family support services. In doing this, it aims to enhance the opportunities of all children within the family, wherever possible, and to ensure appropriate intervention at the earliest possible stage to support children's health, welfare and learning.
We provide a range of family support including advice and information, practical help and direct work including counselling for children, parents and families.
We have a statutory (i.e. legal) duty to ensure that children are protected from emotional, physical and sexual abuse and from neglect. Allegations of child abuse are investigated jointly by Social Care staff with Central Scotland Police.
