All your emergency planning information.

The Council's approach to emergency planning is integrated emergency management.which is:

Ownership - recognising that any action taken in response to an incident is part of the usual service delivery arrangements within the Council  (whether managerial or operational in nature).

Flexibility - incidents vary in their scale and nature, hence the structure must be able to adapt to suit the particular circumstances.

Partnership Working - the response to an incident involves a number of different agencies, who must work together in pressurised situations.

The Emergency Planning Adviser supports this approach by:-

  • providing advice on legislation and best practice
  • assisting with the production of procedures and guidance
  • developing relationships with partner agencies
  • planning and delivering training sessions and exercises on major emergency response

The Council has adopted the following policies and procedures, to assist those involved in the response to a major emergency:-

  • Corporate Framework and Structure
  • Service Response Documents
  • Management Briefs
  • Hazard Briefs
