The Contact Centre is the first point of contact for all council services including:

  • Roads & Street Lighting Repairs
  • Winter Maintenance
  • Supply Teacher Cover
  • Mobile Emergency Care Service (MECS)
  • Women at risk
  • Response to alarms for fire, gas and intruders to Council buildings

How the Contact Centre Works


When you call us to ask for something to be done by one of these services, the contact centre adviser will help if they can, or will log your details and send it to the correct officer for action.

General calls


The contact centre also handles general queries about the council, if you don't know which service or officer you need to speak to.  The best time to telephone the council for routine enquiries is late morning or early afternoon.  The really busy periods tend to be Monday mornings, late afternoons and early evenings (every day), although we do our best to provide more staff at these times.
