Forth Naturalist and Historian
The Forth Naturalist and Historian (FNH) is an informal body concerned with the natural and social history of central Scotland. The web site of the FNH contains the content of its principal publication, The Annual Journal of the Forth Naturalist and Historian, from 1993 onwards. In addition you also find information about other publications of the FNH and the annual symposium.

Pont map of Stirling (16th Century)
The earliest surviving detailed maps of Scotland are probably those made by Timothy Pont during the late 16th century. Today 38 maps survive, one of them covering Stirling and the surrounding area. The National Library of Scotland made all Pont's surviving maps available on-line to make them accessable to a wide audience.

Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland
The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS) is the Government agency that records, interprets and guards the historical sites, monuments and buildings of Scotland. The National Monuments Record of Scotland (NMRS) maintained by the RCAHMS is a valuable source for researchers. A searchable database of the National Monuments Record of Scotland provides information on architectural, archaeological and maritime sites throughout Scotland, along with an index to the archive collections held in the NMRS.
General Register Office for Scotland
The web site of the General Register Office for Scotland contains a database of the registration of births, marriages, deaths, divorces and adoptions in Scotland, and the 19th century censuses of Scotland's population. It is a valuable tool for genealogical research.
UK & Ireland Genealogy Service
GENUKI is a "virtual reference library"of genealogical information that is of particular relevance to the UK & Ireland.
Historical Manucripts Commission
The web site of the Historical Manuscripts Commission (HMC) contains indexes to the National Register of Archives (NRA). From here you can access information on all repositories in the United Kingdom and all those repositories throughout the world, which have collections of manuscripts which are noted in the indexes to the NRA. The indexes to the NRA may be consulted freely through the HMC web site.

The Archives Hub is a service which provides free access for everyone to information about archives available for research in the UK's universities and colleges.
Sites and Monuments Record Mapping
This is a computerised database linked to a GIS (Geographic Information System) mapping system which holds information on sites of archaeological or historical interest in the Stirling and Clackmannanshire Council areas.
