Forth Construction, assisting local construction companies
Martin Reid has been busy since he started his new post running the local construction forum, and now has over 240 members signed up.Forth Construction was launched in 2005 to assist local construction businesses to take advantage of the estimated £4.2bn worth of construction work planned in the Forth Valley in the next few years. Originally a Stirling area forum, the benefits from membership have prompted the inclusion of Falkirk and Clackmannanshire areas too.
"These are exciting times with vast amounts of capital being invested in construction projects" said Martin, "our main priority is to assist our members to take advantage of the many great opportunities out there.
Membership is free and only a click away by visiting the Forth Construction website. The support members have already enjoyed includes education, training and information seminars. At the moment, there are also a limited number of Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card vouchers available to members that offer a half days training followed by the CSCS test. CSCS accreditation is a recognised indicator of a workers competency, and is a mandatory requirement for site access on many construction projects across Scotland.
Martin Reid is pictured here presenting 15 of the CSCS vouchers to Nicole Smith, Development Manager, from the Raploch Community Enterprise. The Raploch Community Enterprise is part of The Raploch Urban Regeneration Company and provides training opportunities in both construction and horticulture working towards SVQ Level 2, in addition to a variety of bespoke training to local unemployed people to help them find employment. For more information on Forth Construction, please contact Martin Reid on 01259 226696, or visit the Forth Construction website.
