Stirling takes part in Expo

Stirling Expo StandStirling took full advantage of the opportunity to showcase the city internationally during VisitScotland's annual Expo, which took place this year in Aberdeen.

Expo is the only event for the travel trade that is entirely Scottish and is the perfect place for Scotland's towns and cities to promote their products and services to potential buyers from around the globe. Following on from the recent Love Stirling visitor campaign that took place throughout Scotland in February and March, some of the city's leading tourist attractions travelled to Expo to stimulate interest in the area and put Stirling on the international stage as a visitor destination.

Stirling Council was one of six partners involved - Jane Hutchings, Tourism Executive, Stirling Council said: "We felt Expo 08 was a great opportunity to work with our visitor attractions and services to promote Stirling as a destination and to highlight the range of things to do and see in Stirling. We worked in partnership with Stirling Castle, The National Wallace Monument, Old Town Jail, City Sightseeing, the University of Stirling and the Bridge of Allan Merchants Association. The large stand that we secured as a result of this partnership helped us create a strong and powerful brand presence at the show - and really put Stirling on the map for tourism."

Stirling Expo StandIn addition to the many international tour operators who visited the stand there were numerous visits from international, national and travel trade press wanting to find out more about what Stirling has to offer, providing a great opportunity to achieve more coverage of Stirling in future publications. VisitScotland Expo is an annual event open to buyers from all sectors of the industry - coach tour operators, group travel organisers, conference and incentive buyers, travel agents, independent tour operators, and wholesalers, who were invited from worldwide markets including Europe, USA, Japan, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
