Disabiltiy Equality Scheme

The Disability Discrimination Act 2005 gives certain public bodies the statutory general duty to promote equality of opportunity for people with disabilities.  Stirling Licensing Board (the Board) is one of those public bodies

The Disability Discrimination Act contains 6 underlying principles which means that the Board must:

  • promote equality of opportunity
  • eliminate unlawful discrimination
  • eliminate harassment
  • promote positive attitude towards disabled people
  • encourage participation by disabled people in public life
  • accommodate disabled people’s impairments even if this means more favourable treatment

The boards policy came into effect on 4 December 2006.
