Central Location

Stirling City and Castle
Stirling has a fantastic central location at the heart of Scotland.  Stirling is a strategic and accessible hub of economic activity, providing a convenient location to service markets in Glasgow to the West, Perth and Dundee to the North, Edinburgh to the East and the North of England to the South.  55 per cent of Scotland’s population live less than an hour’s drive from Stirling City Centre and 80 per cent within two hours drive.

Stirling has experienced strong economic growth over the last ten years, driven largely by job creation and population expansion.  The city is thriving and current plans to maximise economic opportunity in the area are centred on a £200m city centre expansion, which includes the opening up of a 40 acre waterfront site at the heart of the city, and the regeneration of Raploch. Stirling’s schools have also benefited from an extensive PPP programme, which has included the construction of four new high schools.

Stirling’s diverse and growing business base includes a number of larger employers, such as Prudential, Forth Electrical Services Ltd and Falcon Foodservice Equipment.  It also boasts high business start-up and survival rates in comparison to the Scottish average, and has around 100 more businesses per 10,000 population than the Scottish average.

Stirling is home to a number of high-technology firms at the forefront of innovation and design, including Stirling Medical Innovations and many other smaller companies, such as Xipower, leading experts in energy management and monitoring technologies. Stirling University Innovation Park has been key to attracting and providing support to a number of companies at the cutting edge of design.
