Stirling in Partnership

Stirling has already benefited from investment in partnership projects and it hasn’t finished yet with key city centre and other investment initiatives underway.

Forthside - A major city centre mixed use development including a high quality sustainable office development proposed by Stirling Development Agency, a joint venture between Stirling Council and Valad Development Group (UK) Limited.  Forthside, adjacent to Stirling railway station, will significantly increase the size of the city centre by providing a conference hotel, multiscreen cinema (now open), leisure and residential developments, as well as office space.  Linked to Forthside are proposals for a new gateway development into the traditional city centre from the station forecourt with plans including civic, commercial and residential uses.

Raploch Regeneration - Considered to be one of Scotland’s largest urban regeneration schemes, this will transform a city estate.  The Raploch regeneration project will provide up to 900 homes with mixed tenure, new health facilities, riverside walkway, upgrading Back O’ Hill Road, an expanded business location and a community campus (now open) financed through public private partnership.

Castle Business Park (Phase 2) - A proposed northwards expansion of the successful Castle Business Park is currently being progressed through planning.  As well as high quality office space, this mixed use development will also include residential, educational and hotel acommodation.

The National Park - Loch Lomond and the Trossachs is Scotland’s first National Park, most of which is situated within the Stirling area.  The Park, officially launched in 2002, extends over some 720 square miles.  It provides an exceptional environment for outdoor activities and tourism, and contributes diversely to the local economy.

Major Growth Area - To meet Stirling’s current and future growth a major new expansion is planned for east Stirling.  The finalised local plan (second alteration) ‘Stirling’s Major Growth Area’ includes proposals for a new 2,500 house settlement with associated facilities including employment land.

The Sports Village - A sports village on the edge of Stirling, including swimming pool, ice pad, sports hall, leisure and retail facilities and outdoor sports pitches is well underway and will compliment existing high quality activities at the University of Stirling.
