Transport
Situated in the heart of Central Scotland, Stirling offers a strategic location serving the whole country, linking the east and the west, and the highlands and the lowlands of Scotland.  Some 55% of Scotland’s population is estimated to live within one hour ‘s drive of the city of Stirling itself, with up to 80% living within two hours.

Transport Network
Stirling is ideally located to take advantage of the transport network in Central Scotland and its convenient links with the rest of the UK and overseas.

Roads
The area is at the hub of Scotland’s roads system with easy access to Glasgow (less than 30 miles) and Edinburgh (less than 40 miles) via the M80 and M9 motorways respectively.  In addition, the area is well served by a network of bus services connecting Stirling’s main towns and villages and extending to other major centres of population in the Central Belt.

Rail
Stirling, Dunblane and Bridge of Allan are served by fast, frequent rail service with inter-city connections to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness as well as the rest of the UK.  The Stirling to Alloa rail link has recently re-opened.

Air
Stirling’s accessibility to global markets is enhanced by its proximity to both Glasgow and Edinburgh International airports (both approximately 35 miles away).

Ports
The new Superfast Ferries service operating from Rosyth port and ferry terminal (25 miles) provides a gateway to the rest of Europe for companies trading with the Continent.  In addition, Stirling has easy access by road and rail to one of the country’s leading container ports at Grangemouth,15 miles from Stirling.

Bus
Stirling’s award-winning, fully accessible bus station handles more than 4,000 bus departures per week.

Cycle
There are national cycle routes across the area with links from Stirling, Bridge of Allan and Dunblane
