Health and Safety
What we do
The objective of Stirling Council's Health and Safety team is to help people living and working in the area to be aware of the hazards to their health and safety and to reduce the likelihood of accidents and dangerous occurrences. We enforce Health and Safety legislation in non-manufacturing premises such as offices, shops, warehouses and service industries, while the Health and Safety Executive is responsible for factories, workshops and construction sites. Stirling’s Health and Safety team are responsible for making sure that the regulations within The Health and Safety at Work Etc Act 1974 and its associated legislation are known and followed by employers and their employees. To do this we perform a number of duties:
- We conduct Health and Safety inspections
- We provide advice and guidance, in addition to responding to Service requests
- We undertake accident and incident investigations
- We carry out enforcement action where necessary
