What we do
The role of the Trading Standards service is to enforce a range of legislation and to assist in maintaining a fair trading environment for consumers and traders in the Stirling Council area.
- We enforce criminal legislation by making routine inspection visits, monitoring advertisements and carrying out investigations.
- We provide advice on related civil law matters to both consumers and traders in the Stirling Council area.
- We provide guidance and assistance to resolve consumer problems and arrange independent inspections or tests.
- We provide talks and training sessions on a range of Trading Standards topics to businesses, community organisations, schools, etc.
- We liaise with other agencies, such as the Office of Fair Trading, to whom we supply information about unfair trading practices.
