Scottish Parliament Constituency Vote
The traditional First Past the Post voting system is used to elect one constituency MSP in each of Scotland’s 73 parliamentary constituencies.
The list of constituency candidates’ names will be on the right hand side of your Scottish Parliament ballot paper. Mark your vote with a cross (x).
Scottish Parliament Regional List Vote
Your regional vote is used to elect 56 regional MSPs – seven for each of the electoral regions. Stirling is in the Mid Scotland and Fife region. So everyone in the Stirling area has one constituency MSP and seven regional MSPs.
Regional seats are allocated proportionally according to the number of votes cast for each party and individual candidate across the region, and the number of constituency seats won by each party in the region. The political parties decide the order in which their candidates are ordered on their own party’s list.
