Structure chart
The Criminal Justice Services is part of the Forth Valley Criminal Justice Grouping and works with a number of other agencies to:
- Promote and assist action to reduce and prevent crime
- Provide Services to Court: promoting and managing community based social work, reduce the incidence of custody where it is used for a lack of a suitable community based social work disposal, and promoting schemes to enable courts to grant bail.
- Provide and facilitate services for prisoners and their families, to help them prepare for release and to resettle in the community, and to help offenders to tackle their offending behaviour.
- Provision of a Drug Treatment Service
- Promote, provide and facilitate the development of schemes for diverting accused people from prosecution to social work, in those cases where there is sufficient evidence for prosecution but it is not deemed necessary to do so in the public interest
Criminal Justice Services are likely to be affected by a major reconfiguration which will involve the creation of new geographically based Community Justice Authorities, with a timescale of being fully operational by April 2007. The future plans and priorities of Criminal Justice services within the Stirling Council area will be fundamentally affected by the outcome of this process.
