Rue Five
20 June – 11 August
The Changing Room presented an exhibition of new work from the Stirling-based artist, Rue Five, in a walk down memory lane and ‘Filth-adelphia’.
Working with found objects, scavenged mainly from the back streets of Philadelphia, the 21 year-old artist drew together the ephemera of the city with acrylic, aerosol, oils, ink and graphics to paint a picture of an urban landscape.
As an artist who operates in both the streets and the gallery environment, Rue Five has recently exhibited in
Wanderlust, Sub Octo Gallery, Philadelphia in 2007; Complete
Control, Flesh Gallery, Edinburgh, 2006;
Under the Rain, Collette, Paris, 2006;
Stikorea, Kyeongbook, South Korea, 2006;
All Things Are Merely Dreams, Dragon Bar Gallery, London, 2006;
The Big Postcard Show, The Leeky Gallery, Bristol, 2006.
Since graduating from Forth Valley College, Falkirk, in 2004 in Graphics and Typography, Rue Five has also published his work in
Running Amok and
Edition of Five, a limited edition book of illustrations and photographs, for Analogue Books, Edinburgh, in 2006. His work also appeared in
Brahmart Book, a supplement with Vice Magazine (Vol.4 No.3), along side an interview with the artist.
