Transference
Patrick O'Growney and Frances Ryan
7 September - 12 October 2002
The exhibition brought together work by two artists based in the local area, and dealt with issues of social control, patterns of behaviour, knowledge and place. The artists worked closely together to create work for the show.Transference was the title of O'Growney’s work; a series of video sequences presented on two opposite projection screens within the gallery space. The constantly interchanging imagery created a strong dialogue and rhythm. Ryan's work combines prints and photographs using imagery from source materials such as flight information manuals, documentation of her research with local pigeon fanciers in Denny, and at a Stirling hairdressers. The collection of images created a linear form of narrative around the walls of the gallery space.
