Biodiversity Officer
What does the Stirling Council Biodiversity Officer do?
The Biodiversity Officer’s post began in April 2000. It is funded by SNH, Stirling Council and Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. The role of the Biodiversity Officer is to coordinate all the various organisations and groups that make up the Stirling Biodiversity Partnership.
At the moment my main concern is coordinating the six working groups that are writing the Stirling Council Area Biodiversity Action Plan. This should be completed by January 2004, with the publishing of the third volume.
Once this has been completed the bulk of the Biodiversity Officer’s time will be spent making sure that the actions these plans contain are being undertaken, raising awareness and encouraging involvement in the actions contained in the plans by the public and organisations and making sure that the various groups involved in the Stirling Biodiversity Partnership are kept up to date with developments.
