What makes core paths different to other paths?

There will be nothing to distinguish between core paths and other paths on the ground.  While core paths will be signed and easy to use, it is quite possible that this will apply to other paths too.

Core paths are more likely to be maintained and have a higher level of publicity with the possibility of them appearing on Ordnance Survey maps.

The Council can carry out any work on a core path that it feels is necessary in order to maintain access and sign the path.

Rights of responsible access will still exist, however, to the majority of land whether or not a core path runs across it.
