All paths recorded on our Countryside Access Management System (CAMS) are prioritised as high, medium or low. When a problem occurs on a path, the work that needs to be done is also given a priority rating. This rating is based upon a combination of the priority of the path and the scale of the job. We aim to deal with problems on high priority paths first, but also to undertake smaller jobs before large ones. This is because small jobs require less planning, fewer staff, fewer materials and often no funding and can therefore be dealt with relatively quickly and easily. Although larger jobs are often more obvious, and are indeed no less important, by their very nature they will take longer to organise and complete. Problems that are are risk to public safety will be given the highest priority.
