Distance: 0.9 miles/1.4 kms, Time: 45 minutes
Enjoy a short, peaceful walk in Balquhidderock Wood, following a network of well established woodland paths. Not all paths are surfaced and can be muddy in places.
Balquhidderock Wood – known locally as Bluebell Wood – is an ancient woodland, rich in wildlife. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Local Nature Reserve. A walk in spring and early summer will reward you with the sight of the woodland floor carpeted with Bluebells.
Access to the woodland can be gained by turning off Broom Road, down Wishart Drive and taking the first road on the right to the car park at the end of the cul de sac. Follow the path skirting along the bottom of the woodland, this section of path is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Crossing over the tarmac path, continue with the houses on your left.
Turn right, up a steep set of steps and follow the top path back through the woodland to the tarmac path. Turn uphill then re-enter the wood on the other side. At the fork turn right and cross the bridge returning to the car park.
