Tinkers Loan and Swanswater

A lovely rural route, ideal for cyclists, following minor roads and good paths.
Start at the layby off Polmaise Road, next to the bridge crossing the Bannock Burn at Middlethird Wood. There is limited parking, please do not block access.
Taking care, head up the road towards Murrayshall Quarry. Pass the quarry entrance and Graystale Farmand continue along the road. Take the path on the right, signposted to Chartershall, via Tinkers Loan. Continue along the path, crossing over a road and following the Bannock Burn downstream. Follow the path past Chartershall House, through Chartershall Farm and up to the road.
Turn right along the road, bear right at the fork and follow the track signposted to Swanswater Fishery. Pass the fishery and continue straight ahead, eventually passing Wester Craigend House. Follow the track around the bend and back to the start point.
