The Mobile Library Service - Who can use it?

Anyone who lives, works or is being educated in the Stirling Council Area

Where can you use it?

The Mobile Libraries visit both rural and urban areas at some distance from a library building

How regular is the service?

Visits are either weekly or fortnightly

How long does the Mobile Library stop for?

This varies. 20-30 minutes is average The Mobile Library may stop at several locations, in an area spending most of a morning or afternoon there

When does the Mobile Library visit my area?

Can you use other Libraries in Stirling as well?

Yes, you can although, for administration purposes, it will be necessary for you to obtain an additional membership card which can then be used at any community library

What happens if you miss the Library visit?

If you cannot always be at home when the Mobile Library calls, let the library staff know in advance, or ask a neighbour to return your books, and the staff will pick new ones for you. If this is not possible, you can phone Library Headquarters and ask for loans to be extended. Also, books may be returned via any other library in the Stirling Council area. Book items borrowed from the Mobile Libraries do not incur fines at present

Does the Mobile Library provide the full range of Library Services?

  • Both Mobiles are well equipped to provide the following services:-
  • Book lending service for adults & children
  • DVD lending service (there is a charge for this)
  • Books on tape for adults & children (there is a charge for this)
  • Large print books
  • Request service for title on loan or not in stock.
  • Community Information Service
  • Stamps and publications for sale
