I need help to buy something for my family/house

The Social Fund provides lump sum payments, grants and loans.  You may be able to get help from the Social Fund for important costs that are hard to pay for out of your regular income.

If you're on a low income and need help with certain important costs, you may be able to get an interest-free Budgeting Loan from the Social Fund that you pay back.

If you need financial help to live independently in the community or to ease exceptional pressure on you and your family you may be able to get a Community Care Grant. You don't have to pay it back.

I pay rent

If you are on a low income with savings below a set limit (whether or not you are working) and paying rent you may be entitled to housing benefit, which may help pay all or part of your rent.

For help, information and a form call the contact centre on the telephone number at the top of the page.
