A Civil Marriage Ceremony at an Approved Venue
A Registrar is also authorised to conduct a civil marriage at any venue within the Stirling Council area, which has been approved by Stirling Council for the conduct of civil marriages.
You may wish your marriage to take place at an hotel, castle, private home, on board a boat on a loch, on Ben Lui etc.
The list of approved venues shows the full list of permanently approved venues in the Stirling Council area. This can be viewed on the Stirling Council website under 'licensing' and 'weddings'.
If you wish to obtain a temporary approval for a venue or specific location which has not been approved in the Stirling council area e.g. for a home residence or a marquee in a garden or at a picturesque location, an application form and details on fees and how to apply can be obtained from our licensing department.
Arranging a Date with the Registrar
Civil marriages are available at any of our offices by appointment Monday to Saturday.
If you would like to be married at one of our registration offices, you should contact the office where you would like to be married once you have decided on a date for your marriage, in order to provisionally book a date, time and marriage room.
If you wish to be married at an approved venue, civil marriages can be conducted Monday - Sunday, by appointment. You should contact both the venue and the Registrar to check availability for the date and time that you would like and you can then make a provisional booking.

Each couple having a civil marriage in the Stirling Council area have the option to appear on our Civil Wedding Photograph Gallery on this website.
A photograph of the Bride and Groom, together with both names and the date and place of marriage will appear. a photograph release form is required to be completed and signed by the Bride and Groom.
