Stirling Office

Municipal Buildings

The Stirling Registration Office is located within the historic Municipal Buildings.

This building was designed on Scottish themes of the 16th and 17th centuries, and was built in 1914.  Many carved details on the facade symbolise Stirling's rich historical connections.  Mary Queen of Scots tops the facade with a statue of William Wallace, hero of the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297, and a carving of the town's ancient seal featuring the original Stirling Bridge.  Built into the castle rock, the building is situated within one of Scotland's finest surviving town walls which was built in 1547.  The town wall runs directly to Stirling Castle providing excellent views of the Carse of Stirling, the King's Park, the King's Knot and giving access to the many interesting sites and buildings of Stirling's Old Town.

There are 3 marriage rooms available at the Municipal Buildings which are all very individual in character.

The Castle Chamber. More modern of the rooms, it has a unique slate floor with grey marble walls.  Individual stone carvings depicting Stirling's ancient trade symbols adorn the walls.  This suite will accommodate the bride & groom, 2 witnesses, and up to 20 guests.

Kings Knot Suite

The King's Knot Suite.  Enter through elegant French doors and admire the elaborate cornice ceiling, white marble fireplace and statues, together with the beautiful antique Forrester Memorial table.  This room can accommodate a wedding party of up to 50 people.  An accommodation fee (£65.00) is payable over and above the statutory fee (£103.50) for this Suite.

Marble Staircase in the Municipal Buildings

Municipal Council Chambers.  Situated at the top of the marble staircase, this room has a high vaulted ceiling with a small balcony and will accommodate a wedding party of up to 80 people.

When you have decided on the date of your marriage and this has been provisionally booked with the Registrar, you can then decide on which room you would prefer.  Please feel free to call into the Registration Office where we will show you the marriage rooms and discuss your forthcoming marriage arrangements with you.

We want your marriage in Stirling to be a day to remember.
