Opportunities to hear about the needs of children and the challenges of parenting by adoption from both social workers and adopters are designed to help prospective applicants to decide if this is for them. However, the we as an adoption agency have the clear responsibility to assess applicants and be satisfied that any person approved as a prospective adopter not only meets the baseline criteria outlined above, but has the personal qualities that will enable them to promote the welfare of a child throughout his or her life.
