Becoming a Foster Carer
We normally recruit foster carers twice yearly. Advertisements are placed in the local press and information packs are sent to those interested in finding out more, along with the offer of a home visit. Enquiries about becoming a foster carer are welcome at any time so please don’t wait for an advert to appear before contacting the resourcing team.
A preparation and information day is held (usually on a Saturday) when people interested in fostering will have the opportunity to hear from experienced foster carers and staff in the service to help them make up their minds if fostering is indeed for them and their families at that time. Following the preparation day enquirers will be visited again by a social worker from the resourcing team to discuss whether they wish to proceed with an application.
