Who Can Foster

Fostering families come from all walks of life and from all ethnic cultural and religious backgrounds. Married couples, couples living together, single people or single parents can all be foster carers. You don’t need to own your own house or have a large income or academic qualifications to foster.

Who Can FosterThe legal minimum age for fostering is 21 and there is no upper age limit. What are important are people’s qualities, skills, interests and the ability to meet the needs of children in difficult circumstances. So if you have time, energy and enthusiasm and enjoy being with children; a flexible approach and the ability to work in a team; have a positive outlook and ability to be pleased with even small steps forward and an ability to understand things from a child’s point of view then you will have the qualities that we are looking for in a foster carer.
