Assessing your needs is free but there may be a charge for some community care services. Stirling Council can help pay for the care arranged for you but may ask you to pay something towards the cost. You will only be asked to contribute if you have enough income.
If you need to go into a residential care home or nursing care home Stirling Council can help with the fees. But if you have savings, stocks and shares, etc. worth more than £16,000 you will have to meet the full cost yourself.
It is best to ask about all possible costs and funding arrangements when you first contact the Community Care Team. A Social Worker or Occupational Therapist can give details of any costs you may have to contribute. If you like, they can offer you advice on welfare benefits, which may offset the cost of services.
• Many services provided by the voluntary sector are free or have nominal costs.
