The Council's approach to emergency planning is integrated emergency management.which is:

Ownership - recognising that any action taken in response to an incident is part of the usual service delivery arrangements within the Council (whether managerial or operational in nature).

Flexibility - incidents vary in their scale and nature, hence the structure must be able to adapt to suit the particular circumstances.

Partnership Working - the response to an incident involves a number of different agencies, who must work together in pressurised situations.

The Emergency Planning Adviser supports this approach by:-

providing advice on legislation and best practice
assisting with the production of procedures and guidance
developing relationships with partner agencies
planning and delivering training sessions and exercises on major emergency response
