Water Quality

Water Supplies

Environmental Health is responsible for ensuring that the quality of water from private water supplies complies with the Private Water Supplies (Scotland) Regulations 2006. Private water supplies are generally found in the more rural or remote parts of the Stirling area which are not reached by a mains supply. Routine samples of drinking water are taken from properties served by private supplies and are analysed in a laboratory. If the water fails to meet standards, advice can be given on how to improve quality.

Further information can be found on the Scottish Government website:

Water samples are regularly taken from swimming pools and spas to ensure that these are safe for bathers to use. It is important that swimming pools are maintained properly and that the water is properly filtered and disinfected in order to eliminate harmful bacteria.
