Psciods
General Information
- Psocids (Booklouse), also sometimes called barklice, are small insects belonging to the insect order Psocoptera.
- Most species are free-living and are not pests.
- prefer warm conditions especially kitchens
- commonly found in flour
- pale yellow in colour and wingless
Significance
- wash down shelves and thoughly dry the shelf and surrounding area removing all moisture
- discard affected food
- we usually do not treat as such just provide advice
- keep food stuffs away from kettles and microwaves etc as these can intensify the humidity
Preventative Treatment
