The Adult Learning Team provide a variety of lifelong learning opportunities. Volunteers play a crucial role in the Adult Learning Team.
What can I do?
Tutoring - Volunteers can be involved in the direct tutoring of learners. This is mainly in literacy and numeracy classes, where adults improve their reading, writing or number skills. This would be in small groups, supporting the group tutor. The Team also work in partnership with Forth Valley College to provide ESOL classes (English for speakers of other languages).
Publicity and Promotion
Volunteers can assist in the promotion of Adult Learning, whether this is producing, collating or distributing publicity materials, or assisting at promotional events.
Community Buddy
Volunteers can 'buddy' learners who need support to participate in other adult learning classes.
Who can volunteer
We want to hear from you if you are interested in adult learning. A commitment to the ethos of lifelong learning is essential. Appropriate training is provided, to all volunteers, depending on your role.
What will I get in return
In addition to the opportunity to meet new people, gain new skills and experience while doing something that is of vital importance to the individuals involved, we will also reimburse you for reasonable travel costs. On-going training and support are also offered.
If you are interested in being involved in this or volunteering in other ways contact Ruth Martin on 01786 432360 or email martinr@stirling.gov.uk.
