The Parental Involvement Act was passed by the Scottish Parliament on 10 May 2006. It aims to support and encourage more families to become involved in the education of their children.

"A once in a generation chance to take a fresh look at how parents are involved in their children's learning and in schools more generally."
Robert Brown, Deputy Minister for Education and Young People

A New Law to Support Parents leafletA leaflet, A New Law to Support Parents, has been produced by the Scottish Government, which explains more about the new legislation.

Parent Councils have been set up in most schools in Stirling and a Parental Involvement Strategy is being developed which will set out how Children's Services will meet requirements of the legislation.
