What You Can Do
Schools and nurseries value and welcome the help of parents and other family members with activities and events, and also supporting the management of the school or nursery.
You may be able to help out on a regular basis during the day or you may only occasionally have time after school. The important thing is to be aware that you have skills and abilities that you can use to benefit the school or nursery and its pupils.
Some examples of where parents can help in schools and nurseries:
- Joining the Parent Council and/or its tasks groups
- Help with the school library
- School trips
- General help in the classroom
- Sharing different cultures
- Talking about your own experiences
- Fundraising
- After school clubs
Your Parent Council or headteacher will be able to tell you about ways in which you can help.
