School Transport
The Children’s Services Transport Policy sets out the eligibility criteria for free school transport.
Free transport is given to school children who:
- are under 8 years of age and who live more than two miles from their zoned school by the shortest available route
- are over 8 years of age and live more than three miles from their zoned school by the shortest available route
- are required to travel to school using a route that has been assessed as being unsafe under the Transport Policy
- have additional support needs
Free school transport is provided by either:
- scholars season tickets for use on local bus services or
- school transport contracts by buses, mini-buses or taxis
