Community and Accessible Transport

Dial-A-Journey

This is a door-to-door transport service for residents in Stirling, Clackmannanshire and Falkirk Council areas who have a mobility problem and are unable to use ordinary buses.

Dial-A-Journey can be used for almost any purpose

  • shopping
  • visiting friends
  • go to the theatre
  • not to attend hospital appointments

The fare will depend on the distance travelled and the number of people travelling and friends can go with you for the same fare.

Dial-A-Hire

The company operates an expanding group hire service to supplement the door-to-door provision.  This facility grew from the need for affordable accessible transport for the voluntary sector.  It was recognised that in addition to the door-to-door service for individual passengers provided by Dial-A-Journey, there was a demand for additional transport by groups of passengers.  For other private groups contact private operators.

Community Transport

Community transport is provided mainly by charitable, community and voluntary groups.  In the Stirling Council area, the main community transport services are provided by:

  • Killin and Raploch Community transport groups: transport for local groups and organisations;
  • King's House Hotel: subsidised taxi service in the Balquhidder, Lochearnhead and Strathyre area;
  • Order of Malta Dial-A-Journey: door-to-door transport for people who are unable to use other public transport;
  • WRVS: voluntary car scheme throughout the rural area, in which volunteers use their own cars to provide transport for individuals.

We are committed to supporting local, community-based initiatives in transport provision, the primary objective of which is to overcome social exclusion by providing local groups with advice and support or by referring them to organisations such as the Community Transport Association, who are experts in this field.
