School Crossing Patrols

School Crossing SignSchool Crossing Patrols are an essential service employed by Stirling Council to help children and other pedestrians cross the road safely whilst they are walking to and from school.

At 46 sites in the Council Area, School Crossing Patrols are employed at the start and finish of each school day. Although exact times vary from site to site, the commitment is usually 30-40 minutes each morning and again in the afternoon when children are walking to and from school.

There is a lunch time point for certain schools. The rate of pay is £5.73 per hour and, of course, you only work in term time. In addition you get paid during school holidays, plus public holidays.

There is an upper age limit of 75 and we do have several patrol people in their seventies! Uniform and training are provided.
