Does the Council lift/collect the grass clippings?

No. Grass clippings are left to naturally break down on the surface of the grass areas and they are not collected.

How often will the Council cut the grass/open spaces?

The grass will be cut 14 times a year, this is usually once every 2 weeks through the growing season, April through to November.

There has been an incident/accident/damage to my property whilst the grass/hedge was being cut, who do I report this to?

The Grass areas have become damaged or rutted by vehicles. Who do I report this to?

If the area is managed or maintained by the Council it will be re-instated. Please use our Online Request Form or Contact Us who will take the details and pass them onto StreetScape for evaluation.

Will the Council cut my grass if I live on a private development?

It is the responsibility of the landowner to maintain grass areas. The responsibility for maintenance therefore will be either with the land owner, appointed factor or the residents themselves.  The Council is not responsible for cutting grass areas unless the open spaces have been formally adopted by the Council, for regular landscape maintenance.

Will the council cut the grass in my garden

No, however the council operates a Garden Maintenance scheme and if you wish to be considered for the scheme you would need to fill out an application form.

What if I want an extra cut?

The council does not carry out additional cuts over and above the scheduled 14 cuts per year. However, an exception may be made for community or sporting events. Please note, there may be a cost incurred for additional cuts.

What if a cut is late or has been missed?

The grass areas in open spaces and parks within Stirling are managed and cut on a regular basis through the growing season. Occasionally the work schedule slips due to weather, workload and emergency works. Where possible we will endeavour to catch up the cutting schedule.

The grass has been cut, but the standard of cut is poor, who do I contact?

Who do I contact about drainage/water problems on open spaces?

If the problem is on a council owned area, we will investigate the situation and where appropriate schedule works to rectify the problem. If you are concerned about drainage, complete the Online Request Form or Contact Us with the details.

Who do I contact about fallen leaves?

We collect leaves from public footpaths within the 30MPH limits. We do not normally collect fallen leaves on open spaces, however, should there be a health and safety concern, we may carry out the work. If you are concerned about fallen leaves, complete the Online Request Form or Contact Us with the details.

Grass cuttings left On Paths or Roads

After cutting grassed areas we will remove any cuttings which have spilled onto the paths or roads. It is not policy to remove cuttings from the mown area itself. If the grass has not been removed from a footpath or road after a cut, please let us know by completing an online complaints form Contact Us with the details
