Types of waste you may put in your grey bin.

A grey  bin (one per household) is used for non-recyclable/non-compostable mixed household waste. They are collected once per fortnighton the alternate week to the brown bin. The contents are landfilled.

Grey Bin 240-litreGrey bins are for household refuse (mixed waste) only and should not be used for materials that can be recycled, put into the brown bin or composted at home.

Stirling Council's approved standards of service delivery for grey bins include:

  • All households to have one 240 litre [grey] wheelie bin for mixed waste.  Collection will be fortnightly.
  • Households with 6 or more permanent residents can instead request a 360 litre bin for mixed waste.  This facility has to be reviewed every 6 months.
  • Householders who find it difficult to put their wheelie bins or recycling boxes out for collection may request a pull out service.
  • Excess waste on top of or beside a bin won’t be collected.
  • Bin lids should be closed. Overflowing bins are a health and safety hazard and will not be collected.
  • If a bin is put out on time and we miss it, we’ll collect it within 2 days.
  • We will collect your bin on the agreed collection day. If the service is running late, we’ll publicise this on the Council website and collect your bin as quickly as possible.
