Nurseries and Schools

Nurseries provide education and care for children under school age. Some nurseries provide out of school childcare facilities like breakfast and after school childcare.

We offer a variety of provision. Those in schools generally offer part-time places with a few providing flexible places on a school-term basis. Others cater for 0-5 years, making available full-time or extended day places on an all-year round basis.

The nurseries are either funded or managed by us, individual owners, private companies or voluntary organisations in partnership with us. We wish to continue and to improve these partnership arrangements where possible.

There are a further 18 nursery classes within primary schools in our area.

There are 42 primary schools in the Stirling area (1 with Gaelic medium provision). The pupil roll for all 42 schools is 6544 (as at September 2008).

There are 7 secondary schools in the area. The pupil roll for all 7 schools is 6005 (as at September 2008).

Catchment area maps are available for some schools. Find out which primary school catchment area or secondary catchment area you live in along with other information about your area by typing your postcode.

The schools provide statutory education for children aged 5-18 years through the promotion of an ethos of achievement. This includes effective learning and teaching experiences in line with local and national curriculum and assessment guidelines.
