Dean of the Guildry

The nomination of the Dean of the Guildry is approved by the Guildry Council and then by the Guild brothers at the AGM.  The Dean installed on 6th December 2006 is Ian Crawford. Ian joined the Guildry in 1987 and has served on the Dean’s Council since 1996.

Dean

  • Born in Stirling.
  • Educated at Stirling High School and Allan Glens College Glasgow where he was awarded the Muir Sheild as best Scottish Student by the Radio Trades Examination Board and also awarded the Grenville Cup as the top Scottish Student in his final study year.
  • Commenced his Electronic Career with a local Company and after National Service joined the Pye Organisation in Cambridge which became part of the Philips Empire.
  • During his 40 years with the company was involved in systems design, sales, and management, and was instrumental in setting up The Glasgow Educational Television Service. In 1966 was invited to join The Royal Television Society as a founder member of the Scottish Branch and served as Honorary Treasurer for 25 years.
  • Since retiring Ian has taken an active interest in local affairs, is vice chairman of Borestone Community Council, Honorary Treasurer of Riverside Out of School Care,  and is on the board of Whins of Milton School.
