The Guildry of Stirling - Dean's Dinner 2008

The annual Dean's Dinner of the Guildry of Stirling was held in the Park Lodge Hotel Stirling on Friday 8th February 2008. The Dean, Ian Crawford, introduced the Top Table Guests; Rev. Ian Paterson Interim Moderator of the Church of the Holy Rude Stirling and Chaplain to the Guildry, Ian is also Chaplain to the Queen in Scotland. Lord Lieutenant Mrs Marjory McLachlan, Mrs Louise Martin CBE Past Chairman of the Commonwealth Games Council for Scotland. Rt. Hon. Jack McConnell MSP, Provost Margaret Brisley and Guildry Clerk, Paul Miller.

Prior to the commencement of the Dinner the RT Hon Jack McConnell MSP was inducted as an honorary member of The Guildry of Stirling.

Jack was a member of Stirling District Council, where he served as Council Treasurer from 1988 to 1990 and was Leader of the Council from 1990 to 1992.

Following Grace by the Rev Patterson the 79 guests and the Guildry Brethren enjoyed a splendid 5 course meal prepared by George Marquetty and his staff.

After the toast to the Queen by the Dean, Louise Martin gave an enjoyable talk on the  preparation of the Bid Phase which ultimately secured the prestige of staging the Commonwealth games in Glasgow  in 2014.  Louise then proposed a toast to the Guildry of Stirling.

Guildry Brother Philip Allison responded with a humerous toast to the Stirling Benefactors.

It was the Dean’s pleasure to propose the toast to the Scottish Parliament.

The Right Honourable Jack McConnell gave an entertaining reply and concluded by proposing  the Toast to The City of Stirling.

The formal part of the evening closed with a vote of thanks by Guild Brother Graham Reed.
