We're all intrigued to find out more about our families and once you begin researching your family tree it becomes more and more interesting.
The first step to take is to ask older relatives what they remember about the family. This may give you an idea where the family came from, and the names and dates you will be looking for.
They may have family documents - birth certificates, marriages or death, photographs, letters, diaries, Bibles, samplers or property deeds. These can alll come in useful in your search for your forebears, so collect as much as you can to begin with.
