For Scotland’s newest and smallest city, Stirling is punching well above its weight when it comes to the arts.
The Tolbooth is the toast of Scotland’s traditional and world music scene. An award-winning £6m conversion transformed this historic and characterful building into a state-of-the-art performance space, dance studio and recording studio.
The recently revamped Macrobert arts centre based in Stirling University’s campus offers a cinema and theatre programme and a host of activities designed for children and families.
Bob Dylan, REM and Ocean Colour Scene have all played Stirling Castle Esplanade - location for Hogmanay celebrations. Eddi Reader’s vocals have filled the Albert Halls - as have excited crowds at WWF wrestling and tribute concerts! The Smith Art Gallery brings social history to life through art and artefacts. The Changing Room brings contemporary art to the Crawford Arcade. Poetic words on paving slabs … crafted standing stones … street theatre … art is part of life in Stirling.
