Edge of Kings Park
King's Park
Distance: 2 miles/3.2 kms, Time: 1hour 30mins
An easy circular walk around the edge of King’s Park Golf Course with spectacular views across Stirling City, the Ochils, the Carse and the Trossachs. It is mainly a grassy undulating path with some short uphill sections, uneven ground and sections of hard surface.
King’s Park is a beautiful public park with an abundance of wildlife. It is used for golf, walking, tennis, and has putting greens and a children’s play area. King’s Park was established as the hunting grounds for the Royal Court at Stirling and later developed as a recreational area in the 19th Century.
Start from the main entrance to Kings Park. Go through the gates and take the path on the left, past the play area to the pavilion. Cross the grass to join a path which skirts around the edge of the golf course.
Keep to the edge of the golf course until you reach a fork in the path. Take the right hand fork which goes down the side of a small block of conifer trees, to join a red blaes path. Listen out for birds singing. The trees and scrub in this corner of the park provides homes for many birds.
The path continues to skirt the golf course where it turns into a track leading down to the golf clubhouse. Cut across the grass in front of the clubhouse, skirting around the putting green and continue straight ahead past some scrub to the open grass area. Go across the grass to the corner and the park entrance.
