Stirling Council’s Countryside Ranger Service is organising another dry-stane dyking come & try day.
Countryside Ranger, Claire Bird, explained: "We will be repairing another section of dyke in Mine woods, near bridge of Allan Golf Club, on Saturday 13 March.
"Your trainer on the day will be Archie Strang of the West of Scotland Drystane Dyking Association, the training is aimed at complete novices or people with a small amount of skill. So don’t be put off if you have never done any dyking before, come along and find out more about this ancient craft.
"We never quite know what the weather will be doing but we expect it to be cold, people will have to be warmly dressed, wear sturdy boots and bring a packed lunch.
"The event costs £10 and is open to all; under 16’s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. This is the only drystane dyking day we’re organising this year so grab this chance to try your hand at this ancient and very useful craft.”
