Recordable DVD Player + tickets to see film at macrobert: R Martin, Stirling
Book/DVD + Tickets to see film at macrobert: C Brodie, Stirling & N McFadyen, Alva
Head and shoulders above the others. Gritty performances and cinematography, grim Northern realism, every ingredient of 60s/70s school life in Britain realisticly portrayed. A fine book perfectly adpated for screen by a fine director. A source of joy to countless school kids - officially sanctioned bad language when shown in class
The most brilliant movie! represents very well the British creative people!
Broke my heart this book and film when we read it in P6 at King Park primary school. I was a wee middle class kid, and I think the harshness and unbearable loss in this film and book made a huge impression on me. It is not an easy read or watch but the book is beautifully translated into the film
