The basketballactive programme is divided into three section:
The Stirling Council basketballactive Programme funded by the Big Lottery to provide new opportunities for PE & Sport for children and young people in Stirling.
Activities across Stirling have been designed to encourage participation in basketball not only as players but also as coaches and officers.
The basketballactive programme has 17 qualified coaches who deliver classes throughout Stirling. The programme is growing from strength to strength creating new and exciting opportunities for children aged 4 and 17 and all abilities.
The programmes on offer are:
'Mini Ball 4-6 years', this programme is designed to enthuse children about the sport of basketball. However rather than taking a sports specific approach the programme adopts the learning through games philosophy whilst developing the children's fundamental skill.
'Skill Development 7-13 years', to help improve skills through the use of small-sided games and skills practices.
'Player Development 14-17 years', the coaches try to take the players to the next stage of their development using game play and tactics.
